EventGuard helps provide safe Norfolk Show
July 2013

For the sixth year running Norse Commercial Services subsidiary EventGuard provided a range of security and stewarding services for the annual Royal Norfolk Show. This is the second year that the company had exclusive responsibility for the perimeter security and carpark marshalling and stewarding. EventGuard provided static guarding, door supervision and dog handling services as well as search teams for vehicles coming on and off of the show ground.

They also provided car park services for visitor movements, and guarded the stands of several private customers during the show. We had around 140 staff on duty for each of the two days, said Managing Director Martin Leeder, but also had a security presence on site for the build-up to the Show. The fact that all our staff undergo comprehensive training, and are licensed by the Security Industry Association (SIA) means we can deploy large numbers of staff without having to sub-contract to other security providers.

EventGuard works with West Norfolk College providing practical experience for students looking to gain spectator interest as part of the syllabus in their Public Services studies.

The company deployed 11 such students and their lecturers at the show.

This is a legacy that has continued on from the Bridging the Gap scheme for the Olympics, Martin Leeder commented, and demonstrates that we are still involved in training and developing people s understanding of the security industry.
