clip_image002Kingdom is pleased to be providing security to the new IKEA store that is under development in Norwich. Kingdom is currently providing static guarding for the construction site1 and will be providing retail guarding2 once construction of the store is complete later in the year.

Kingdom currently provides retail security3 to all 18 of IKEA s UK stores (including Belfast), and two distribution centres. Kingdom first started providing security to IKEA4 in the UK in 2010 alongside three other security companies, and last year was announced as the sole security provider to IKEA in the UK5.

Kingdom provides IKEA6 with a unique security service, tailored specifically to match the IKEA environment and work ethos, and includes manned guarding teams7, mobile patrol8, key holding9, customer service and reception teams10 as well as loss prevention and return on investment analysis.

IKEA s new store in Norwich will be the first new IKEA store to open in the UK for six years.

Due to open later in 2015 at Sweet Briar Retail Park off the outer ring road in Norwich, the store will be the first of three new IKEA Order and Collection Points and has been described as experimental.

The new style stores will be much smaller that IKEA s usual warehouses the Norwich store will be just 19,000 square feet, around one tenth of the size of IKEA s stores in other parts of the country. These Order and Collection Points are being created with the aim to make shopping with IKEA easier and more convenient and accessible, connecting the experiences customers can currently have with IKEA in-store and online, allowing customers to shop whenever, wherever and however they want. IKEA s new Norwich store is described on the IKEA website11 as follows:

The new format will act primarily as a planning studio, bridging the gap between online and in-store shopping, giving customers local access to knowledgeable co-workers, the product range and home furnishing ideas and inspiration.

Customers will be able to speak with home furnishing experts for advice and support with making more complex purchases such as kitchens or wardrobes. There will also be the opportunity to view products and collect orders made in the store. The Norwich Order and Collection Point will feature a caf and will have a limited range of products that customers can take home on the day.

Commenting on the new store, IKEA UK s Country Manager, Gillian Drakeford, said in an article on the IKEA website: We already have an established online presence in this market but currently our customers in Norfolk have to travel more than two hours to our Lakeside or Milton Keynes stores to see the product range and get planning and design advice.

By introducing an Order and Collection Point in this market we are hoping to bridge the gap between online and in-store shopping and offer customers a more personal service locally.”12
