Two Security Support Officers wanted for uniform command and control duties on a job-share basis at the Eaton Estate near Chester. The Security Support Officers normally work four hours per weekday (20 hours per week), plus additional hours to cover absence and events. The job entails operating a suite of security and communication systems in a modern control room.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job title: Prisoner Custody Officers

Location:>>>> Nationwide

Salary: >>>>> Earn up to 25K (including Overtime)

Provide a safe environment for the movement of prisoners within court buildings and during transfer to prison and courts ensuring their welfare.

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out interior and exterior vehicle checks using vehicle check sheets, the Vehicle Operational Record and Vehicle Defect Report Forms
  • Ensure vehicles have sufficient equipment to carry out tasks, e.g. food, water and handcuffs
  • Responsible for Prisoners in their custody, ensuring they are identified correctly, searched and advised of their rights
  • Liaise with Prison and police authorities to ensure correct documentation is completed
  • Ensure risk assessments have been conducted for vulnerable or `at risk` Prisoners before handling or transferring
  • Management of Prisoner property
  • Responsible for Prisoner meals and snacks
  • Responsible for Prisoners while in transit, ensuring Comfort Stops are taken when necessary, and Prisoner checks are completed and recorded
  • Manage and control incidents when they occur
  • Perform Courthouse duties during `down time`.

Key Requirements:

  • The ability to work well under pressure and to tight time deadlines, as well as a flexible team player.
  • Up to date knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures and GEOAmey Policies.
  • A positive and practical attitude.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proven multi-tasking experience in a fast paced environment.

In addition to having good driving skills, the particular job requirements for most of the work is the ability to accurately complete chain-of-custody paperwork and work diligently to ensure the correct & timely collection and delivery of highly sensitive samples.

Topspeed operate a large fleet of Mercedes Benz vans, all purchased from new and which are subject to an in-house maintenance regime.

The driver will take ownership for their vehicle which they keep at their home address and work programmes are sent out a week in advance, although they might be occasionally subject to change,

The company manages its drivers and vehicles from its Operations Centre based at Knutsford, Cheshire using the comprehensive TomTom vehicle tracking, telematics and communication platform. Drivers are issued with company clothing and smart phones used for day-to-day contact.

Most of the work involves pre-planned, scheduled, weekday runs that take place generally from early morning until mid-afternoon. In addition, there will be a need to operate an occasional weekend rota system for ad-hoc work.

It is expected that most drivers will work around 25 to 35 hours-per-week and are paid from the moment they leave home until they return.

Responsibilities can include:

  • Carry out health surveillance assessments using both electronic and manual Occupational Health equipment including; audiometry, spirometry, vision, skin surveillance, height, weight, blood pressure etc.
    • Ensure collection of accurate information using our internal system
      • Carry out alcohol & drug testing, against Hampton Knight and Network Rail standards
      • Undertake inspection, correct use, storage and maintenance requirements of all equipment and resources provided by Hampton Knight, used in connection with work activities
      • Travel is an expectation of this role within a two hour radius from your home location and potentially Nationwide when required.
      • You understand that the nature of you working with us means that assignments may be offered at short notice, therefore requiring a degree of flexibility.
      • You can choose to work on an employed or self-employed basis if you choose to undertake Occupational Health Technician Work. Employed rates are 9.37 per hour + 0.40 per mile and self-employed rates are 12.00 per hour + 0.40 per mile.

        When scheduled for OHT work you can expect to be booked for a day of work a time (approx.

        7.5 hours per day) this work is on an ad-hoc basis.

      • You will work on a self-employed basis if you choose to undertake Alcohol & Drug Technician Work. Your rates of pay will be dependant on the work you carry out whether the tests are scheduled are unscheduled and the time of day. When scheduled for CT work your working times will vary dependant on the number of donors to be tested.

        Your maximum working day will be approx.

        7.5 hours. This work is on an ad-hoc basis.

The ideal candidate will hold the following skills and experiences:

      • Excellent communication and customer service skills
      • Valid driving licence and motor insurance
      • Experience in either role is not essential as full training is provided at our Head Office in Tamworth.
